Ryesport and MM Sport
The Brief
Ryesport is a charitable trust established in October 1997 with the aim of managing and operating leisure facilities for residents and visitors in Ryedale.
In 2003 Marta Maratchi was asked to dress staff in a sports uniform that would allow them to work within the leisure environment in comfort. Unisex sizing was a major problem. Previous uniforms had shrunk and faded and staff no longer took pride in their clothing.
The Solution
We chose Gym-Dry®, which is a revolutionary breathable, non-shrink and non-fade fabric. A multifilament yarn, Gym-Dry® has the soft, pliable texture of a natural fibre even though it is made from 100% Polyester. What makes it extra special is the fact that it is ‘breathable’. This means it is designed to wick perspiration away from the skin to leave the wearer dry and comfortable, no matter how active they are - a benefit that is ideal for those working in a leisure centre or gym environment.
Sportswear designed from traditional fabrics tends not to have a very long working life. Gym-dry® changes all that. It’s incredibly durable, provides premium comfort, and is of a high quality. People who wear sports-gear by choice will recognize it as the best.
Using this fabric, Marta Maratchi has created an exciting new leisure wear range MM Sport, and from this range we designed a wardrobe of sports uniforms for Ryedale. Unusually for this market we offered Ryedale both male and female fittings which pleased all employees. Fabrics are easy care, and styles flatter all sizes.
As the MM Sport Range is available in 20 different colours, we have been able to choose colour-ways that reflect the Council’s Corporate Image. To enhance the branding further, we have embroidered the Ryesport logo on the garments. Staff can now be easily identified, and they love their new sportswear.
