The Co-op
The Brief
The Co-operative Group operates over 1,600 food retail stores. Its main focus is to meet the “top up shopping” needs of the local community. The Co-operative Group is committed to social responsibility, leading the industry in its support for Fair Trade products to provide customers with a responsible choice. In 2001 Marta Maratchi dressed the staff at the Southern Co-op.
In 2002 Marta Maratchi was contacted by Plymouth Co-op, which is a collection of several stores where staff had been dressed in very basic uniforms. We were asked to design a wardrobe of business clothes to dress all staff from Management to Store-men.
The Solution
The knitted, breathable polo shirt with contrasting trim is available to all staff. In addition, we have developed a practical warm layer using Arctic fleece, to keep out the cold. Skirts and trousers in easy-care Polyester complete the company clothing range. For management we have added shirts and Crepe de Chine blouses and a formal business jacket.
