Avenance

“Avenance and Marta Maratchi fell in love as companies: In
Marta we have found a professional corporate wear company
who truly value their customers and can develop and grow with us.”

Stewart Smallwood, Operations Director, Avenance

The Brief

Avenance is a Food Company that aims to provide pleasurable dining and hospitality experiences to its customers. Avenance has 6,000 staff and offers refreshment services to more than 600 organisations across Business & Industry, Healthcare, Education and Defence sectors including clients such as Unilever, Cadbury Trebor Bassett, Norwich Union, and Charterhouse School.

Avenance contacted Marta Maratchi in 2004 because they wanted a range of uniforms that were unique to themselves, smart & professional, cool & comfortable to wear, stylish, easy to care for and reasonably priced.

The Solution

Marta Maratchi and Avenance have worked in partnership to design a wardrobe of garments to meet their needs. We have taken the gold Avenance ‘people’ identity and developed a range of fashionable black and gold mix & match clothing that really makes their employees look and feel like a cohesive team. The wardrobe includes front of house garments, formal wear and chefs wear. We have chosen breathable fabrics which are easy to work in, which is crucial when working in a hot and busy contract catering environment.

Because the garments are also easy to care for, the team always projects a professional image to their customers. In particular, the chefs-wear (made in France) is seen to be highly innovative in the catering industry. In response to the new chefs-wear we received the following email from Avenance Chef and Regional Chairman, Michael Haigh.

“Hi Marta - In reply to our conversation at the Avenance Chef of the Year Competition at the Reebok stadium last week you asked me to give you my thoughts on the new Avenance Chefs Jacket. I found the jacket not only very stylish but also extremely comfortable to wear. The press stud buttons are also a must meaning no lost buttons. My wife says that it is very easy to wash and iron especially when she does 5 sets of whites a week. I myself am chairman of the Avenance chefs’ forum for Scotland and will be recommending the new jackets to all our chefs in Scotland.”
